The nationwide classification of the forest structure as of 2015 for the classes 1) open area, 2) gap, 3) thickness, 4) weak-dimensioned tiered, 5) medium-dimensioned homogeneous, 6) medium-to-high-dimensioned 2-layer (with undergrowth), 7) multi-dimensioned tiered. The comprehensive knowledge of the forest structure for units of 400 m² is a much more accurate information compared to the forest structure for larger units estimated by statistical methods in forestry. This higher accuracy enables the derivation of a variety of spatial analyses in a previously unfamiliar spatial accuracy, such as habitat suitability maps for certain animal species. In combination with tree species classification and vegetation height data from the following years, this data set enables detailed monitoring of natural forest development.

本数据集涵盖2015年全国范围的森林结构分类,共包含7类森林结构类型:1)开阔地(open area),2)林隙(gap),3)厚层结构(thickness),4)弱维度分层结构林(weak-dimensioned tiered),5)中等规模均质结构林(medium-dimensioned homogeneous),6)中高层二维结构林(含下层植被,medium-to-high-dimensioned 2-layer (with undergrowth)),7)多维度分层结构林(multi-dimensioned tiered)。以400平方米为单元的森林结构全面数据,相较于林业领域通过统计方法估算的大尺度单元森林结构数据,精度显著更高。该高精度特性可支撑此前未达到该空间精度的多类空间分析工作,例如特定动物物种的栖息地适宜性分布图。结合后续年份的林木树种分类与植被高度数据,本数据集可实现天然林动态发育的精细化监测。
