Metagenomic analysis for identifying specific metabolite-related microbiome. Comprehensive metabolomic analysis identifies novel plasma biomarkers in immunotherapy-treated patients with non-small cell lung cancer

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized immuno-oncology, providing sustainable and effective clinical responses. However, the percentage of patients responding to ICIs-based therapy is only 30–40%. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify for predicting the therapeutic consequences and clinical outcomes of ICIs-based therapy. This study suggests that plasma metabolites could be used as effective biomarkers in predicting prognosis and responsiveness to ICIs-based treatment in patients with NSCLC. In addition, this study confirmed the specific metabolite-related microbiome through metagenomic analysis.
