LATIN AS THE INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE OF MEDICAL COMMUNICATION.

Latin has played a central role in the development of medical terminology for more than two millennia and continues to function as a unifying linguistic foundation for healthcare professionals worldwide. Despite the dominance of English in modern scientific discourse, Latin remains embedded in anatomical nomenclature, clinical terminology, pharmaceutical prescriptions, and academic traditions. This review article examines the historical origins of Latin in medicine, its linguistic advantages, its current relevance in international medical communication, and the challenges associated with its use in contemporary education and practice. The study highlights that Latin terminology contributes to precision, universality, and professional continuity across cultures and languages.
