Required input data for running CorRES api

This dataset provides preprocessed wind resource and spatial data required to run the CorRES model. It combines global wind speed data from ERA5 and the Global Wind Atlas (GWA2) with derived grid-based features, formatted for direct use in CorRES workflows.The dataset includes:<b>ERA5 mean wind speed</b> for the period 2006–2018 at 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m above ground level. <b>GWA2 mean wind speed</b> at 50 m, 100 m, and 200 m above ground level, provided on a ~3 km global grid<b>Precomputed grid layers</b> aligned with ERA5 grid points, including elevation, land-use indicators (e.g. urban and military areas), protected area categories, mean wind speed, mean global horizontal irradiance (GHI), and distance to onshore locations.The precomputed spatial grid layers included in this dataset are derived from the following sources:<b>Urban areas</b> are based on the Natural Earth 1:50m Urban Areas dataset, available in the public domain from Natural Earth .<b>Protected Areas</b> are obtained from the European Environment Agency’s (EEA) Nationally designated areas dataset. It was retrieved from https://sdi.eea.europa.eu , and has the citation identifier eea_v_3035_100_k_natda-poly_p_2023-2024_v22_r00<b>Orography/Bathymetry/Lakes &amp; Rivers</b> come from the combined orography and bathymetry dataset of the Global Wind Atlas . This in turn used orographic data from Void-filled SRTM and Viewfinder Panoramas Digital Elevation Models (DEM), and bathymetry from the GEBCO_2020 grid dataset. [Data set attribution: GEBCO Compilation Group (2020) GEBCO 2020 Grid (doi:10.5285/a29c5465-b138-234d-e053-6c86abc040b9)]<b>Military Areas</b> are created using the landuse=military identifier from the OpenStreetMap (OSM) dataset.<b>Distance from Shore</b> is internally calculated for offshore regions surrounding the PECD regions . Thus, this exclusion criterion currently applies only for the area around Europe (the PECD area).<br>The combined dataset is intended to facilitate reproducible simulations and analyses using the CorRES open-source model.
