Metagenomic analysis of the gut microbiome in patients with alcohol-related liver disease

This is a prospective, single-center, biopsy-controlled, cross-sectional study, which covers the full range of alcohol-related liver diseases. Inclusion criteria comprised individuals aged 18-75 years with prior or current chronic alcohol overuse, which was defined as more than 24 g/d for women and more than 36 g/d for men for over a year, and informed consent to a liver biopsy. Patients were recruited between 2013 and 2018.
