On June 30, 2014, the French SPOT-7 satellite was successfully launched from India's Satish Dhawan Space Centre using the Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Developed by Airbus Defence and Space, SPOT-7 has identical performance specifications to SPOT-6. It has an orbital altitude of 694 km and a launch mass of 712 kg. Adopting the Astrosat 500MK2 platform, SPOT-7 features strong attitude maneuverability, capable of swinging 30° within 14 seconds. SPOT-7 has a panchromatic resolution of 1.5 m and a multispectral resolution of 6 m, and carries two space cameras named "New Astrosat Platform Optical Modular Instrument" (NAOMI), with a combined swath width of 60 km. The daily image acquisition capacity of SPOT-6 and SPOT-7 reaches 6 million square kilometers, an area larger than the total area of all European Union member states. The two satellites are expected to operate until 2024. SPOT-7 supports flexible programming based on user requirements, with up to 6 programming plans per day. It supports multiple imaging modes including long strip, large-area, multi-point target, dual-image stereo and triple-image stereo, making it suitable for cartography at a scale of 1:25000. SPOT-6, SPOT-7 and the two Pleiades satellites (Pleiades 1A and 1B) form a four-satellite constellation, with all four satellites located in the same orbital plane and spaced 90° apart from each other. This constellation has a revisit capability of twice per day: the SPOT satellites provide large-swath survey images, while the Pleiades satellites offer 0.5 m resolution detailed images for specific target areas.
