Previous studies have found that whether stress affects people negatively or positively depends on people's beliefs and views on stress itself, that is, stress mindset, which mainly includes stress-is-enhancing-mindset and stress-is-debilitating mindset. Different stress mindsets will lead to different physiological and psychological responses when people experience stress events or after stress events, thus affecting the physical and mental health of individuals when they experience stress events or after stress events. Researchers have found that different state stress mindsets of individuals can be induced through materials such as videos, but there is currently a lack of state stress mindset-inducing videos suitable for Chinese cultural backgrounds. This study revised the Chinese version of the state stress mindset-induced video developed by Crum et al. (2017) and tested its reliability and validity. After watching the Chinese version of the state stress mindset-induced video, 38 healthy adult subjects rated their subjective reports on arousal and emotional valence. Among them, the stress mindset video includes two versions: stress-is-enhancing-mindset and stress-is-debilitating mindset. At the same time, fill in the positive and negative emotion scale and the state stress mindset scale before and after watching the video. It was found that there was no significant difference in arousal between the stress-is-enhancing-mindset-induced video and the stress-is-debilitating mindset- induced video. Compared with before watching the stress-is-enhancing-mindset video, individuals had higher positive emotions and stress-is-enhancing-mindset scores after watching the stress-is-enhancing-mindset video; Individuals had higher stress-is-debilitating mindset scores after watching the stress-is-debilitating mindset video than before the video. The results show that the Chinese version of state stress aspiration-induced video has good reliability and validity, can effectively induce individual stress-is-enhancing-mindset or stress-is-debilitating mindset, and can be used as a suitable tool for carrying out stress mindset-related research.
