A total of 82 samples for the western Colorado Holocene terrace chronology were
floated or water-screened to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis.
These samples were recovered from soil pits excavated in late Holocene terraces adjacent to
creeks and rivers in the upper Gunnison River basin. Botanic components and detrital charcoal
were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material was separated. Accelerator Mass
Spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dates were obtained for charcoal and/or microcharcoal from
25 samples.
