ZUMABUS 5 (1980)

These omnibus surveys have two main survey focus areas:

1. Attitudes to energy and environmental questions,

2. Political attitudes and election research.

Beyond this there is the ZUMA standard demography.

Topics: 1. Attitudes to energy and environmental questions: sources of
information about energy problems; knowledge and definition of the
terms ´burning as fuel´, ´conversion into electricity´ and ´refining´;
attitude to nuclear energy and energy policies (scales); type of
personal commitment for or against nuclear energy; attitude to an
increased use of coal; reasons for expected protests or acceptance of
an increased expansion of coal-fired power plants; postmaterialism
index; most important and least important political goals.

2. Political attitudes: party preference (pair comparison); personal
preference for organization of the pension system according to the
insurance principle or principle of need as well as assessment of the
position of CDU/CSU, SPD and FDP on this topic; personal attitude and
assumed position of the parties on stricter punishment for terrorists,
prohibition of lock-outs during industrial action, abortion, private
radio stations, deployment of new arms and construction of additional
nuclear power plants; party inclination; assessment of the social
prestige of selected occupations; self-assessment of social class.

Demography: ZUMA standard demography: age; sex; marital status;
religious denomination; frequency of church attendance; school
education; occupational training; occupation; occupational position;
employment; area of business of company; company size; income;
household composition; residential status; interest in politics; party
preference; self-assessment of social class; German citizenship;
memberships.

Interviewer rating: willingness of respondent to cooperate;
reliability of respondent; length of interview.
