Formica fusca: Queen fecundity, worker entourage, and cuticular chemistry in the ant Formica fusca

Laboratory experiments in which queens of the ant Formica fusca were allotted a large (50 workers) or a small (5 workers) entourage, and allowed to lay eggs. The reproductive output was recorded, the queens and 10 workers were genotyped, and the cuticlar hydrocarbon profiled of the queens were analysed.本实验室研究中，将掘穴蚁（Formica fusca）的蚁后分别配置为大型（50只工蚁）或小型（5只工蚁）的侍从工蚁群，并允许其产卵。研究记录了蚁后的繁殖产出，对蚁后及10只工蚁进行了基因分型，并分析了蚁后的表皮碳氢化合物（cuticular hydrocarbon）谱型。
