Insects in Austria.

Four out of five species in Austria are insects. Among other things, they provide pollination, pest control, the degradation of organic substances and provide food for other animal species. The report provides an overview of species numbers, distribution and stock trends in Austria as well as their importance for us humans. One focus is on the dramatic declines in insect populations worldwide and various hazard factors. In the past, only demanding, specialised insect species were considered endangered, new evidence suggests that frequent and widespread species are also affected by a decline. There is a high demand for research on the causes of danger, but sufficient information is available to implement measures to protect insect diversity.奥地利境内五分之四的物种均为昆虫。除此之外，昆虫还具备多项关键生态服务功能：涵盖授粉、害虫管控、有机物质降解，同时为其他动物类群提供食物来源。本报告全面梳理了奥地利境内昆虫的物种数量、分布格局、种群动态趋势，以及其对于人类社会的重要价值。报告的核心议题之一，聚焦于全球昆虫种群的大幅衰减及其各类潜在风险因子。过往研究仅将特化程度高、生存需求严苛的昆虫物种认定为濒危类群，而最新研究证据表明，常见且广布的昆虫物种同样正遭受种群衰减的影响。当前学界针对昆虫种群衰退成因的研究需求极为迫切，但现有充足的信息已足够支撑昆虫多样性保护相关措施的落地实施。
