Point Piquet Whale Lookout

This project will construct a Lookout on the rocks at Point Piquet. Point Piquet is a popular coastal whale viewing point. Local volunteers have been conducting whale monitoring surveys for many years. Point Piquet is a good place for whale watching because the waters are relatively deep, allowing whales to come close to the shore. Dunsborough Coast and Landcare Group and the Meelup Regional Park Committee commenced design and material discussions in 2012. With a basic design in mind the Dunsborough Coast and Landcare group commenced raising funds to put towards the project. A platform and universal access to the site is desired by those who use the site to improve safety and the experience of whale watching.
