RNA-sequencing was carried out on RNA isolated from Escherichia coli C strain NCTC122 infected with Enterobacteria phage phiX174 at the mid-exponential point of the E. coli growth phase. RNA was also isolated from non-infected NCTC122 controls. The sequence data reveals the transcriptional activity of phiX174 and the host response to infection just prior to lysis. Control data collected also reveals transcriptome activity of NCTC122 at normal growth conditions at mid-exponential growth phase.
