Wood-rotting fungi are the only organisms known to extensively degrade lignins. Our project is focused on solving a central problem of lignin degradation mechanisms for a basidiomycete Trametes hirsuta 072, an efficient lignin destroyer, and includes sequencing and assembly of complete genome of the fungus.
