Composition and metabolic differences of intestinal microbiota of six fish species in Xisha coral reefs

This study utilized 16S full-length amplicon sequencing analysis to investigate the intestinal microbiota composition and function of five herbivorous fish species and one carnivorous fish species (Myripristis kuntee) from the coral reefs in the South China Sea. The study found that the intestinal microbiota composition and metabolic functions of herbivorous fish were significantly different from those of carnivorous fish.
