Approved value of employment adjustment subsidies amid COVID-19 Japan 2022

As of November 18, 2022, the Japanese government approved a cumulative total of around 6.2 trillion Japanese yen of subsidies to businesses that were facing employment adjustment due to the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVDI-19) pandemic. Subsidies have been granted to about 7.4 million cases since the outbreak of the disease. The government in Japan subsidizes the layoff allowances of employees so that companies that need to scale down businesses can maintain the number of employees. As a special measure amid the pandemic, the limit amount of grants per employee and the subsidy rate were raised from the usual condition.
