Shotgun metagenomic sequencing of bacterial communities present on Asparagopsis taxiformis tetrasporophytes in culture

Asparagopsis taxiformis has gained a significant attention of industries due to its potential to be used as a cattle feed additive in order to mitigate enteric methane emissions. Consequently, the farming of A. taxiformis is expanding and its growth is likely to be impacted by microbial communities that colonise this seaweed. In this project, we aimed to identify microbial communities present on A. taxiformis tetrasporophytes in culture and infer the functional potential of these based on the sequencing outcome.
