Gene expression profile at single neuron level of mouse hippocampal neuron, sampled from ex vivo acute brain slice

Hippocampal neurons exhibit heterogeneous properties, such as physiological and molecular expression patterns. To identify the gene expression patterns related to the physiological properties, we used single-cell RNA sequencing for neurons recorded juxtacellularly in vivo. Overall design: Hippocampal dorsal CA1 neurons were recorded juxtacellularly and then fluorescently labeled by electrical stimulation in vivo using the ICR mice. The brains were then isolated and sectioned. The somas of the recorded and labeled neurons were manually suctioned with a glass pipette and analyzed using Quartz-seq2.
