Investigation of epitheliocystis pathogens of Mediterranean Sparus aurata directly from infected tissue samples.

Novel bacteria have been identified within epitheliocysts from Mediterranean Sparus aurata. Whole genome sequencing directly from infected material has identified them as a new genus, Ca. Ichthyocystis. Two separate species are represented in the data.
