资源简介:
<div>This is a one day snapshot of Family Court Supervision cases: PINS & JD by Hamlet, broken down by gender and race. Not all county hamlets are represented here...only those where actual offenders reside. Hamlets from both Nassau and Suffolk county are included as encountered/reported by S/C Dept of Probation.</div><div> </div><div>A JD (Juvenile Delinquent) is a youth under 16 who commits an act which would be defined as criminal if an adult committed it. Such acts can include burglary, car theft, shoplifting, drug abuse, etc. The second category of adjudication is the status offender or that of a Person In Need of Supervision or PINS. Technically, a youth adjudicated as a PINS is a youth under 16 who is incorrigible, ungovernable, habitually disobedient, and beyond the lawful control of his parent or guardian. This usually concerns activities such as truancy, running away from home, or staying out all night. A PINS case may also be a youth whose juvenile delinquency petition has been amended to PINS, although the juvenile is not a true status offender in this situation.</div><div>The respective data fields/columns are as follows:</div><div>Hamlet - where the individual resides</div><div>Total JD - total Juvenile Delinquents</div><div>Total PINS - total Persons in Need of Supervision</div><div>Total Female - total Females in Dataset</div><div>Total Male - total Males in Dataset</div><div>Total White - total White Race</div><div>Total Black - total Black Race</div><div>Total Other - total Other Race</div><div><br /></div>
