Sequencing of laboratory passaged Histoplasma to characterize mutation rate and changes in chromosome copy number.

Laboratory strains derived from Histoplasma ohiense G217B and WU15, a G217B-derived ura5 mutant, were propagated through diverse passaging protocols, then clonally isolated and sequenced in order to characterize chromosome gain and loss during this propagation. For 46 samples, the number of doublings during passaging was quantified so that sequencing data could be used to infer the mutation rate.
