Size 101/4 in. by 7 in.; foll. 222. Twenty-five lines in a page. الجزو الثانى من كتاب مروج الذهب الخ The Second Part of Abu’l-Ḥasan ‘Alî b. al-Ḥusain MAS’ÛDÎ’S (d. A.H. 345) Historical Encyclopaedia [مُرُوج ٱلذَّهَب وَمَعَادِن ٱلْجَوْهَر‎] It begins with the heading ذكر جوامع من الاخبار ٬ووصف الارض و البلدان و حنين النفوس الى الاوطان and the first words of the text are : ذكر ذوو الرواية ان عمر بن الخطاب رضه (= vol. iii. p. 123 of the edition of Barbier de Meynard and Pavet de Courteille [Paris, 1861]). It concludes with the reign of Abu’l-‘Abbâs al-Saffâḥ, as follows: ولابى العباس اخبار حسان اتينا عليها فى كتابنا اخبار الزمان (cf. vol. vi. p. 156 of the Paris edition). Well written; the titles very large and often in red. Dated Wednesday, the last of Ṣafar, 824 [= February 1421 CE].1 The beginning is injured by damp. A defect after fol. 219.
