Two inbred lines AJ525 and A350 with contrasting seed size were selected from an association panel of 309 maize inbred lines. Their transcriptomes at 15 and 39 days after pollination were analyzed. The differentially expressed genes between the two genotypes and developmental stages were used to validate candidate genes identified by genome-wide association mapping in the association panel.
