资源简介:
The type locality of Leucophenga albofasciata (Macquart, 1851:277) is “Nouvelle Galle du Sud” (New South Wales, Australia). This species has been re-described by Bock (1979:4–8, Aust J Zool), he has also listed synonyms, provided a taxonomic overview and described each of the various sexually dimorphic characters. The dimorphism (male Fig. 1–3, female Fig. 4–6) was overlooked by several earlier taxonomists and consequently males and females were once treated as separate species. The known distribution is Australia, New Guinea, India, Java, Nepal, and Sri Lanka (Bock, 1979; Brake & Bächli, 2008); in northern Australia it is one of the commonest species of Leucophenga, often assembling in large numbers (>50 specimens, both sexes) in holes and cavities in trees, logs and stumps, in abandoned boxes, and even in the driver’s footwell of a vehicle parked overnight (pers. obs.). The species is easily separated from congeners by reference to the large to very large setae present on the posterior margin of the 2nd tergite in males (Fig. 3). Bock (1979) states further that the “Scutellum [is] usually concolorous with mesonotum [Fig. 2], but in several specimens slightly paler about bases of scutellar bristles, in several others darker about bases of anterior scutellars. Pleura paler than mesonotum, with variable small darker area in middle region [Figs 1, 4]. Halteres tan with apical black spots [Figs 1, 4].”
