This study investigates the critical role of the chloroplast chaperonin Cpn20 in female reproductive development through high-resolution RNA-seq analysis of Arabidopsis pistils from two distinct mutants cpn20-a (knockdown) and cpn20-b (partial depletion). By comparing their transcriptomic profiles, we uncover regulatory mechanisms governing plastid function, ribosome biogenesis, and energy metabolism during gametogenesis. Our dataset reveals strong enrichment of plastid-related pathways in highly expressed genes and signaling/transport components in moderately expressed genes emphasizing the indispensable role of plastid activity in reproductive success.
