VPRS 12396 Draft Estimates and Budget Papers

The Chief Secretarys Department was divided into branches or divisions, each responsible for a particular function allocated to the Chief Secretarys portfolio. One of these divisions was the Chief Secretarys Office, which centrally administered the budget of the Department.Each division was required to submit estimates of expenditure and revenue at least once every financial year to the Chief Secretarys Office, so that the Office could approve and record their upcoming expenditure, and forecast revenue for future budgeting purposes.This series consists of ledgers forwarded to the Chief Secretarys Office by the accountant of each division. The ledgers contains estimates of expenditure and revenue from each division, as well as comparisons with those from previous financial years. The series also contains correspondence requesting further funding, and other issues relating to the administration of finances for the divisions within the Department.
