资源简介:
The McGinnes Site (48SU1499) is a stratified, multicomponent, kill/butchering site
associated with local spring activity and located west of LaBarge, Wyoming. Fourteen
stratigraphic samples from two columns represent interbedded cultural and acultural sediments.
Eight additional samples were collected from the cultural surfaces and associated features. Two
modern surface samples also were examined to provide a baseline for interpreting
paleoenvironmental change and economic activity at the site. Artifact and geologic evidence and
a basal radiocarbon age of 1980 + 70 BP suggest that the time period represented by the
combined stratigraphic pollen samples is likely about 2000 years, and that occupation included
the time of transition from the Late Archaic to the Late Prehistoric. Pollen analysis of these
twenty-four samples provides information concerning available and potentially utilized plant
resources, as well as insight into vegetal changes in the vicinity of the site.
