Vaginal microbiome and adverse outcomes in pregnant women with and without T1D

Women with type 1 diabetes (T1D) have an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, including premature delivery (PD) and preeclampsia (PE). Optimal glycaemic management only partially mitigates this risk, implicating other factors. The vaginal microbiome has been linked to adverse pregnancy outcomes, but studies in T1D are lacking. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify associations between T1D, the vaginal microbiome and PD and PE.
