This dataset is the Nanjing Centennial Figures Dataset, spanning the years 1912 to 2020. As a critical foundational resource for historical figure research in the information age, this dataset comprises information about prominent historical figures from Nanjing, primarily including figure category, full name, alias, gender, date of birth, date of death, place of birth, place of death, major life experiences, characteristic tags, and other relevant details. This dataset is stored in two formats: Excel spreadsheets and XML files. The Excel spreadsheets systematically organize the figure information, allowing general users to perform simple queries and statistical analyses. The XML files, by contrast, support easy data reading and writing across all applications, facilitate seamless data exchange, and better convey spatiotemporal information, interpersonal relationships, multi-attribute and hierarchical nested relationships associated with the figures. These capabilities enable them to support further spatial analysis and visualization research, making them tailored for professional users.
