Sequencing of the domestic silkworm mitochondrial genome, Backokjam strain. Bombyx mori strain:Backokjam

The complete genome of the B. mori mitochondrion from the Backokjam strain was sequenced by the Genome Analysis Team at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). Studies undertaken to compare the levels of sequence divergence and gene rearrangements between the domestic silkmoth (B. mori) and the closely-related wild mulberry silkmoth (B. mandarina) were published by Yukuhiro, et al. in 2002. The Backojam strain contains 12 mismatches and 13 insertions or deletions relative to the C-108 strain.
