aBoth the CDC Flu A/B Real-time RT-PCR and RP Real-time RT-PCR assays were performed after RNA extraction for detection of flu virus and human RNase P gene, respectively, from throat swabs and bronchoalveolar lavage fluids (BALFs). A Ct value of 45 was used to represent a negative sample result. IQR, interquartile range. Threshold cycle (Ct) difference is Maxwell 16-S minus QIAamp. *P<0.05.
