PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrous cellulose-containing composition and a coating material having improved coating property. SOLUTION: A fibrous cellulose-containing composition contains a fibrous cellulose having a fiber width of 1，000 nm or less and has a phosphorous acid group or a substituent derived from the phosphorous acid group， and a pigment dispersion agent having an ionic group， in which an acid value of the pigment dispersion agent is 5 mgKOH/g or more and 200 mgKOH/g or less or an amine value of the pigment dispersion agent is 5 mgKOH/g or more and 200 mgKOH/g or less.
