Digital Nomad Gen Z: Will the Strawberry Generation Comply and Participate Safely in the Information Systems Era?

This research finds a significant imbalance in Indonesia’s changing labor market: In contrast to the continues dominance of traditional, rigid work structures and the low adoption of digital HR systems (only 38% of companies digitally transformed), Generation Z strongly prefers flexible, digitally-enabled careers (71% prioritizing flexible schedules and 41% willing to forgo employment over inflexible environments detrimental to mental health). Gen Z workers experience extreme psychological strain as a result of this disconnect, which includes high stress levels (more than 70% report experiencing significant stress in their first two years), high turnover intentions (69% consider leaving because of inflexibility), and most importantly concerns about their willingness and capacity to participate in and safely comply with information security protocols in digital work environments, potentially endangering their personal well-being and organizational cybersecurity.
