Production and treatment of textile waste in Austria.

In Austria, 221,800 tonnes of textile waste end up in waste every year. Only 17 percent of textile waste is reused and recycled, the majority of which is incinerated. This is demonstrated by analyses by the Federal Environment Agency on the supply and treatment of textile waste for which waste types, textile content, industry origin and areas of application were identified in 2018. The focus is on old clothes, of which 44,697 tonnes were collected separately and about half exported.
