Site: Jena (Germany): The Jena Experiment is a large scale long-term field biodiversity experiment which involves collaboration between ten research institutions in Germany and Switzerland, coordinated by the University of Jena and the Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena. It is located on the floodplain of the Saale river.; Longitude (WGS 84): 11°35’ E; Latitude (WGS 84): 50°55’ N; Altitude (m.a.s.l.): 130; Land cover (IGBP land classification): Grassland; Soil type: Eutric Fluvisol (Roscher et al. 2004); Geology: Loamy fluvial sediments, almost free of stones (Roscher et al. 2004).
