Genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis MBL_J17: an isolate from jute retting water

Bacillus species dominate the aerobic phase of microbiological jute (Corchorus sp.) retting due to their remarkable property of lignocellulolytic enzyme production. Many members of the genus Bacillus are well-known producers of antimicrobial peptides. The whole genome sequence of Bacillus subtilis MBL_J17, isolated from jute retting water, was used to analyze both lignocellulolytic and antimicrobial activity in silico.
