资源简介:
Site 32MZ936 is a iroilti-^xxiponent site noted by a sparse scatter of lithic
artifacts in rolling grasslands overlooking the Little Missouri River badlands
in western North Dakota. Only one of the occupation levels yielded radiocarbon
ages of 3680 BP and 4010 EP, representing two separate occupations within Level
3. Knife River Flint flaking debris was common. Site 32DU909 exhibited two
small scatters of lithic artifacts and was located in a short-grass prairie along
the top of a ridge north of a small intermittent drainage. No radiocarbon dates
were available for this site. Stratigraphic pollen samples were analyzed from
both 32MZ936 and 32DU909 to identify elements of past vegetation aanmunities and
to examine paleoenvironments. In addition, macrofloral samples were examined
from two hearths at Site 32MZ936 to recover evidence of subsistence involving
plants.
