The Bayi Glacier (39°0.74′ N, 98°54.03′ E, Glacier Code: 5Y425L2) is a flat-topped glacier situated on the northern slope of the Qilian Mountains within the headwater region of the Heihe River. It has an east-west length of approximately 2.2 km, covers an area of 2.4 km², with an elevation ranging from 4520 to 4816 m and an average thickness of about 50 m. Classified as an extreme continental-type glacier, its mean annual air temperature is -10.3 ℃, with the minimum winter temperature dropping below -30 ℃, while the average summer temperature is relatively higher.
