LISST-Holo2 Data from August 2024 Deployment Studying Sediment Transport Processes Near the Seafloor by Internal Solitary Waves

Dataset of particle images from the LISST-Holo2 collected as part of a field campaign led by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in August 2024. The project aimed to study and quantify sediment transport processes on continental shelves and slopes resulting from internal solitary waves (ISWs). The LISST-Holo2 and LISST-RTSSV (Sequoia Scientific, Inc.) were deployed on a lander at a depth of approximately 70 meters near Point Sal, California and positioned between 200-240 cm above the seabed. The instruments were programmed to sample at approximately 3 frames per second (FPS) for 60 seconds every 2 hours. The Holo2 sampling was offset by approximately 30 minutes from the RTSSV.
