Full length transcriptome analysis of 2 pyrosomes, Pyrosoma atlanticum and Pyrostremma spinosum

Pyrosome is a group of marine holozooplankton, the body of them is not a single individual, but a complex colony composed of large number of single zooids, and is known for its bioluminescence. Although the pyrosomes are found in almost all tropical to temperate oceanic waters, but it is still known little about them, only a few species are confirmed and biological records is scarce. In this study, we performed an integrated study of PacBio Iso-Seq and short-read RNA-seq to generate high-quality and full-length transcript data of Pyrosoma atlanticum and Pyrostremma spinosum with systematic gene functional annotation and characterization analysis, which can be used as reference transcriptomes for further genetic analysis.This study will provide a significant resource for ongoing and future research on basic groups of Chordates.
