Sarotherodon galilaeus Genome sequencing

Sarotherodon galilaeus is a commercially important freshwater fish due to a series of characteristics suitable for aquaculture including fast growing speed, high reproductive capacity, high adaptability to environments and disease resistance. However, there is paucity of information on the genetics and molecular biology of this species, with only the mitochondrial genome sequenced. In the study, we first stablished a high-quality chromosome-level genome for S. galilaeus, providing a foundation for further molecular biology studies.
