As part of an investigation into nutrient sharing in biochar-amended soils, we isolated a strain of Bacillus velezensis. Since many Bacillus spp. isolated from soil promote plant growth and/or encode production of antibiotics, we investigated the potential of this isolate to synthesize antimicrobial compounds by sequencing its genome.
