Effect of auditory cues to lexical stress on the visual perception of gestural timing

This is the data repository for the research paper "Effect of auditory cues to lexical stress on the visual perception of gestural timing". The study investigated whether lexical stress has an effect on the perceived timing of hand beats with a novel beat timing estimation task (Exp 1) and a two-alternative forced-choice task (Exp 2). This collection contains two folders for the two experiments. Each includes (1) a .txt file for all anonymous behavioral data, (2) a .Rmd file for data analysis, (3) a .html file generated from the .Rmd file for those who do not have R installed on their device, and (4) a subfolder that includes the Python code used for in-lab testing, written instructions that were shown to participants during the experiment as well as all audio and video stimuli. Additionally, the folder for Exp 1 also includes a .Rmd file for power analysis, and the folder for Exp 2 includes a subfolder with two Praat scripts used for acoustic manipulation. It also includes two templates of informed consent that we used to acquire data from participants. One is for anonymous behavioral data, the other is for recording the audios and videos that were used as stimuli in the two experiments.
