Multidrug- resistant Corynebacterium pilbarense human isolate

We report the second documented case of Corynebacterium pilbarense infection, identified in an 80-year-old male patient with underlying hepatitis C and liver cirrhosis. The organism was isolated in pure culture from ascitic fluid during an episode of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. To our knowledge, this represents the first comprehensive report of the antimicrobial susceptibility profile of this rare and potentially emerging human pathogen
