Global studies of microbial diversity on CIA rat

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition that has significant impacts on both the global economy and public health. Prior research suggests that probiotics have the potential to alleviate arthritis. Probiotics enhance the composition of gut microbiota in cases of intestinal dysbiosis resulting from various illnesses. This study investigates the impact of Saccharomyces boulardii on arthritis in Sprague-Dawley rat with collagen-induced arthritis. S. boulardii enhanced the integrity of bones and joints. In addition, the use of 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid pyrosequencing revealed that S. boulardii improved the makeup of the gut microbiota in arthritis rats. Specifically, it raised the presence of Lactobacillus and Bacteroides, while reducing the prevalence of Prevotellaceae, Clostridium, and Eubacterium.
