Nagar Van Yojana: Six-State Comparative Project Dataset, 2020–2026

This dataset provides a compiled and standardised project-level inventory of Nagar Van and Nagar Vatika projects across six Indian states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Jharkhand. The dataset contains 294 project records covering a reported 10,534.10 ha and approximately ₹383.995 crore in approved project costs. The dataset was compiled from State CAMPA and Forest Department administrative/project records and associated spatial records available for the study. Variables include project identifier, source record number, state, district/city, Nagar Van/Nagar Vatika name as reported in source records, area, approved cost in lakh and crore, sanction year where available, and source/cut-off information. The dataset supports the manuscript “Mapping India’s Urban Forest Expansion: A Six-Year Assessment of Nagar Van Yojana and the Road to 2027.” It is intended to support comparative analysis of project distribution, project scale and reported financial characteristics. The six-state portfolio is a comparative dataset and does not represent a complete national census of Nagar Van Yojana projects. Administrative terminology such as sanctioned, developed and established is not harmonised in this dataset and should be interpreted according to the source records and reference dates used in the accompanying study.
