Chicken intestinal microbiota under physiological stress

The goal of the study was to characterize the microbiota of the small intestine and cecum of chickens under physiological stress. This study mediated physiological stress through the administration of corticosterone in drinking water. Three doses of corticosterone were used: 0, 10, 30 mg/L. This study was conducted to provide a better understanding of how stress affects bird health, including the onset and development of enteric disease. This is important for identifying and advancing effective disease mitigation strategies.
