Investigation of gene regulation in trichomes of Nicotiana tabacum

The glandular trichomes of Nicotiana tabacum overproduce secondary metabolites and therefore are attractive system to elucidate metabolic and gene regulatory networks associated with the secondary metabolism. Transcriptome resource corresponding to the trichomes and trichome-free leaves of N. tabacum through next-generation sequencing was developed. The comparative gene expression analysis provided detailed information about genes expressing in trichomes of N. tabacum.
