Microbial transformations of nutrients in the soil, microbial dynamics and characterization of microflora in Pokkali ecosystem

The Pokkali ecosystem a saline tolerant coastal rice system of Kerala, hosts a unique and dynamic microbial community shaped by tidal influx, high salinity, and organic rich sediments. This project investigates how soil and rhizosphere microorganisms mediate nutrient transformations and sustain productivity in this climate resilient agroecosystem. The study focuses on characterizing microbial diversity, functional potential, and nutrient cycling processes, alongside identifying key taxa that support plant growth and salinity tolerance.
