ArchaeoSat :Amazon Mounds & Geoglyphs

This dataset provides high-resolution satellite imagery for identifying mounds and geoglyphs in the Amazon region. Collected from Google Earth, this dataset aims to support machine learning models in detecting and protecting archaeological structures at risk. This dataset marks the first step in a larger project to survey and protect vulnerable archaeological sites globally, especially in underdeveloped regions. The why: This project was inspired by a story shared on Twitter highlighting the risk of Amazonian geoglyphs vanishing due to environmental and human pressures. This dataset represents the first step in a broader initiative aimed at heritage preservation in underdeveloped regions, with the goal of safeguarding archaeological sites that are increasingly under threat.
